Vaulting is the sport of Gymnastics and Dance on the back of a moving horse at the walk , trot, or canter. It’s a wonderful way to develop confidence, balance, coordination, creativity, and strength, while working in harmony with the horse. IS VAULTING SAFE?
Absolutely! Vaulting is the safest of the equestrian sports. In fact, equestrian vaulting is documented safer than riding bicycles, playing on playground equipment, and even playing soccer! This is due to the horse being controlled by an experienced longeur (instructor) at all times. Vaulters learn skills on a stationary barrel before practicing on the horse’s back.
WHAT SUPPLIES ARE NEEDED?
Comfortable clothing you can move around in and vaulting shoes. Water shoes work great also. Vaulting shoes are sold online at www.pvsupply.net and www.skylineequine.com Boots or tennis shoes are needed during the time spent grooming and cooling out the horse.
